How can I use it?

• My favourite way is laying out a slab of play-dough and students can push in their arrays
• alternatively, they can roll their arrays into play-dough balls to create the arrays
• Whiteboards are always a hit! (no prep!) 

Curriculum Links:

Year 1

"Represent and solve simple addition and subtraction problems using a range of strategies including counting on, partitioning and rearranging parts" (AC9M1A01). This involves using arrays to visually demonstrate repeated addition, which lays the groundwork for understanding multiplication.

Year 2

"Recognise and represent multiplication as repeated addition, groups and arrays" (AC9M2A01). This helps students visualise and understand multiplication as making groups of the same size, which is essential for developing multiplicative thinking.
